What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor/Utility position at New-Indy Containerboard LLC?
SUMMARY: Responsible for the proper disposal of all waste materials and recyclable paper products throughout the printing facility. General Laborers assemble various items including foam, corrugated, and any other material that will be used as part of the overall design solution for certain packaging requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, die cut and assemble foam product from looking at an approved sample or drawing.
- Safely operate standard warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Operate a die press
- Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
- Use hot melt glue or heat-sealing gun to bond foam pieces together.
- Maintain inventories of bailing wire, wax, and no wax tags, and scrap bales.
- Perform quality control on their own work.
- Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
- Apply proper load tag.
- Spot label to corrugated components.
- Assemble, pack, staple, glue, sort, any job requiring hand labor.
- Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
- Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
- Knowledge equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
- Read and interpret product layout and production specifications.
