Fulltime position - No nights, No weekends, No holidays!
This position works with the Weatherization department to help make a difference in the lives of families by lowering their energy bills and helping them live in safe, energy-efficient homes. Responsible for inspecting and analyzing residential building envelope, HVAC systems, heating systems, electrical, plumbing and all other aspects of building characteristics with an emphasis on energy conservation. Preparing necessary work orders related to energy audits. Computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is desirable. Experience in residential energy, education, and construction highly desirable. Full time position.
Work 8-hour days, Monday through Friday.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Evaluates houses eligible for weatherization under the state and DOE weatherization programs, prepares jobs for contractors, and oversees contractor work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform and document blower door, carbon monoxide, and combustion testing.
2. Inspect and report on attic and all areas requiring insulation.
3. Determine the infiltration and furnace needs of client’s homes.
4. Document with digital photos areas of customer homes to be weatherized prior to contractor work.
5. Establish a comfortable relationship with clients and explain the weatherization program and the benefits of having their house weatherized.
6. Evaluate houses according to the latest edition of the Iowa Weatherization Work Standards.
7. Fill out the necessary paperwork to build a file on each house which will allow entering proper data on the state software system (NEAT/MHEA).
8. Prepare necessary instructions and materials to give to the contractors to perform the work.
9. Oversee contractors as necessary to ensure the work is done according to state standards.
10. Approve contractor change orders as necessary.
11. Prepare progress reports as necessary to keep the Energy Director informed as to the status of houses evaluated, in the process, and completed.
12. Work with the Energy Director on maintaining relationships with current contractors and procuring more contractors as necessary.

printer, electronic typewriter, facsimile machine, photocopying machine,
calculator, ten-key adding machine, paper shredder, telephone system, etc.
10. Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems.
11. Ability to work with confidential information.
12. Ability to work in a team-based environment.
13. Ability to adapt to the organization's changing needs.
14. Ability to pass a physical examination.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A High school diploma or its equivalent. Two years experience in the construction trade preferred.
