New Pattern Counseling is an inter-disciplinary counseling team supporting long term sobriety and trauma healing for every member of the family. We specialize in dual diagnosis scenarios, co-occurring substance use and process addictions, trauma, and attachment distress. We promote healing and recovery through cultivating a sober way of life that heals and transforms a person's relationships to their body, to primary partners, children, peers, community, and seeks resilience through meaningful spiritual practices.

JOB TITLE - Integrated Counselor

Part-time and Full-time positions available.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking full time and part time counselors to be part of creating a strong recovery community from the ground up.

New Pattern Counseling(NPC) is a start-up outpatient counseling clinic in downtown Gresham, OR. We support individuals, couples, and families, with individuals ranging from age 12-65.

Services provided include individual and group counseling, both in person and online.

This is a Master's Level position, open to those having completed a graduate program in counseling, psychology, or social work. Applicants may be pre-licensed Registered Associates, have attained full licensure, or have completed or be in process toward a doctorate level degree.

Our philosophy of healing is informed by modalities such as Internal Family Systems, The Task Model utilized among CSAT practitioners, Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, select tenets from 12 Step Philosophy, current day neuroscience, and other evidenced based practices. We are further informed by ideas derived from practitioners including Dan Siegel, Gabor Mate, Richard Schwartz, Patrick Carnes, Jenna Riemersma, Philip Mamalakis, and various spiritual practices.

NPC places a high value on supporting counseling students, and registered associates working towards licensure. Supervision is provided, being informed by IFS, Narrative, Existential, and process oriented approaches.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This job is meant to promote the professional development of the clinician, as well as support the overall vision of NPC. The candidate has or is willing to work toward a specialized credential in one or more of the following disciplines:

Chemical Dependency(CADC credential)

Process Addictions, particularly Compulsive Sexual Behaviors and Porn Addiction(CSAT credential)

Internal Family Systems(training and certification through the IFS Institute, or other comparable body)

Trauma work, particularly body based modalities

Family Systems

Couples

Youth

Other specialties including Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, Art Therapy, Dance Movement Therapy, yoga, and neurofeedback will be considered.

The candidate builds and maintains a caseload of 12-21 weekly clients for part-time, and 22-30 weekly clients for full time.

Develop and provide at least one group(which may count as up to two client hours).

Regularly collaborate with the NPC team; our model, when a higher level of care is clinically indicated, is to pair a client with multiple members of the team.

Engage in collaborative relationships with collateral community providers including, but not limited to primary care providers, partners, probation officers, child welfare workers, other mental health providers, other addiction counselors, prescribers, or clergy.

Collaborate with clients to evaluate treatment progress on a regular basis.

Provide monthly reports detailing progress to referent, if applicable. .

Participate in staff meetings and regularly seek consultation

Manage all aspects of each client's records.

Manage all aspects of a client's treatment, including Intake, Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment Plan, Progress Notes and Intervention, crisis response, and termination/referral. This is not primarily a case management position, but the clinician must be able to manage minimal case management tasks as needed.

Meet with clients in person, or online as requested.

Morning, afternoon, and evening hours available, on both week and weekend days.

Clinician may develop a "niche" and specialize in a particular approach and/or a particular population and/or a particular issue, but is also open to supporting with equal welcome individuals of all gender expressions, ethnic and racial backgrounds, sexual orientations and faith traditions who are impacted by chemical and/or behavioral addiction, and the related trauma and attachment distress.

Develop specific group or resource offerings as mutually determined between counselor and supervisor.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS.

Accepting both pre-licensed and licensed LPC, LMFT clinicians, as well as CADC I and above, as well as CSAT clinicians and candidates, as well as IFS practitioners.

Must have completed a graduate program in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field.

Additionally, must have intent to begin within one year of hire the certification/training process as CSAT and/or IFS practitioner and/or EFT Counselor and/or related specialty.

Ideal candidate must demonstrate familiarity with multiple of the following from personal or professional experience, or through personal study: chemical dependency, compulsive sexual behavior(including pornography), IFS model, Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, Hakomi, ACT, Narrative Therapy, Neurofeedback, Sand Tray, Art Therapy, Dance Movement Therapy, body-based trauma treatment modalities through lived experience, prior study, and/or prior work.

Ideal Candidate brings an understanding that the clinician always deepening their skills and knowledge through training, reading, presentation, and consultation.

Ideal Candidate holds a strong value around community, collaboration, working on a team, and relying on one's peers for optimal success.

Ideal Candidate has a strong interest in prioritizing the humanity of the individual, and promoting healing in the whole person, as well as in their whole immediate system, whether that be a couple, a family, or chosen family.

Ideal Candidate can teach practical skills to clients while framing healing, growth, and recovery as an ongoing, holistic, and life long transformative process.

Ideal Candidate adheres to concepts such as Addiction Interaction and Co-Occurring Disorders, and is comfortable with this level of complexity and intensity in an individual.

Ideal Candidate endorses the view that Compulsive Sexual Behavior(commonly known as "Sex Addiction"), including problematic pornography use, is a legitimate problem, and is comfortable with a range of approaches including both very conservative as well as very progressive. AASECT certification and training is not required, but familiarity and comfort with basic tenets of sex positivity and sex therapy is greatly preferred.

Ideal Candidate is familiar with or at least open to learning about the Internal Family Systems model, and open to adopting a non-pathologizing, gentle, and curious view of a person and their challenges, seeing each individual as an integrated system.

Ideal Candidate is able to incorporate the physical body into their therapeutic approach, drawing on any combination of elements from mindfulness, somatic experiencing, hakomi, focusing, yoga, dance movement therapy, or other body-based approaches.

Familiarity with modalities such as Narrative Therapy, ACT, Existential therapy, Family Systems, Art Therapy, and Sand Tray therapy is encouraged.

Ideal Candidate is faith-friendly and open to exploring how to incorporate the intrinsic belief systems of each client into their therapeutic processes in a way that honors and deepens the client's understanding of their traditions.

Ideal client has a preference for in person work, as often as logistics allow.

Ideal client has both personal and professional experience with both individual and group therapy. Experience in a peer-led support group, such as the 12 Steps, would meet this qualification.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Masters Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field.

For Chemical Dependency and Sex/Porn Addiction specialized counselors, two years of sobriety, as well as two years experience in the field, whether peer services, residential, or other context.

Must have personal experience with counseling.

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS

Starting at $40-65K/year for pre-licensed associates, with room for raises as caseload grows and credentials are attained.

$1000 signing bonus.

Practitioners requiring LPC or CADC supervision will be offered supervision free of charge, within their routine work week, valued at $300-$500/month, depending on supervision needs.

CEU fees covered by the company.
