Your impact
The Metallurgy Technician supports the execution and delivery of metallurgical projects as directed by the Metallurgy Manager. Responsibilities include advanced proficiency in all bench sample preparation techniques and bench scale metallurgical testwork methods. Foundational understanding of laboratory testwork completed throughout other departments such as mineralogy, environmental, and analytical.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $65,600 to 75,000. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.

Responsibilities include advanced proficiency in all bench sample preparation techniques and bench scale metallurgical testwork methods. Foundational understanding of laboratory testwork completed throughout other departments such as mineralogy, environmental, and analytical.
As part of our team you will
- Execute metallurgical testwork including data reporting
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Train and guide other employees
- Sample receiving, preparation, and inventory management
- Maintain lab information with detailed and organized notes on procedures, directions, and priorities
- Order consumables and maintain an appropriate stock of items
- Handle hazardous material including proper sample disposal
- Liaise with vendors to obtain assistance with troubleshooting instrumentation and, equipment
- Assess and update SOP’s, JHA’s
- Execute workplace inspection and document findings
- Formal education or qualification in Metallurgy or related science discipline.
- Advanced knowledge of bench scale metallurgical testwork to include sample preparation, comminution hydrometallurgical, and mineral processing studies.
- Competent in ability to execute metallurgical testwork programs with a high attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols and provide equipment maintenance
- The applicant must have advanced knowledge to include bench scale metallurgical testwork, laboratory equipment operation and maintenance, and hazardous material handling.
- Applicant must have foundational familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and the ability to carry out specific activities using appropriate tools and processes to achieve high quality metallurgical project results.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis, reporting, and presentations is desired.
- This position is based at the Malozemoff Technical Facility located in Englewood, CO
- Position may require, although uncommon, travel nationally and internationally to assist Newmont’s Processing Operations globally.
