Duties:
As a Payroll Specialist, you will ensure accurate and timely processing of employee wages and benefits, including calculating hours worked, withholding taxes, and managing deductions. Your role will be crucial in maintaining compliance with payroll regulations and providing support to employees with payroll-related inquiries.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit payroll, including paper checks and electronic direct deposits.
- Collect banking information for direct deposit setup and initiate deposits on paydays.
- Stay updated on the taxation of salaries, benefits, and other related factors.
- Process and monitor garnishment orders and other payroll-related deductions.
- Maintain and document all payroll records accurately.
- Conduct semi-annual audits of payroll records.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts related to payroll transactions.
- Identify and address issues related to uncollected payroll.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience in payroll processing and wage attachments.
- Excellent organizational and mathematical skills.
- Familiarity with Windows-based computer programs.
