What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (Enhanced Services) position at NHS Northstar?
Direct Support Professionals work with individuals with disabilities in one of our residential program sites located throughout the Minnesota Iron Range communities, from Grand Rapids to Embarrass. Direct Support Professionals provide care and supervision to our clients by assisting them with daily living skills & personal cares, promoting community involvement and helping with household chores such as cooking and cleaning. This position offers a team environment while working assigned shifts with other direct support staff.
Enhanced Services positions will have the opportunity to work at a Residential Program location with an applied rate exception from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. NHS Northstar requests rate exceptions to provide enhanced staffing support for specific individuals. Enhanced services pay rates are applied to time worked in the designated program location or program specific training. Standard base pay rates are applied to non-enhanced service work, including onboarding and most classroom trainings. Enhanced services pay rates are subject to change and will no longer apply if a DHS rate exception is discontinued for any reason.
*New employee starting bonuses to be paid after 90 days of employment:
- Full-time positions: $250.00
- Part-time positions: $125.00
Starting pay:
- $17.00/hour- Standard base rate
- $21.00/hour- Enhanced Services Tier 4

- Hibbing, MN (one-person program)

Qualifications
Experience/Education/Training
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- Experience working with developmental disabilities, specifically autism and challenging behaviors, preferred
Regulatory Requirements/Licensure
- Valid Driver’s License
- Department of Human Services Background Check
