Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Residence Life will provide comprehensive support for daily housing operations and main office functions. This role involves direct engagement with students, parents, and staff, as well as assisting with the coordination of essential housing initiatives and events.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide assistance with main office operations, responding to student and parent inquiries via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Residence Life to manage housing operations, including room changes, key distribution, and conduct hall and room inspections.
- Support major Residence Life initiatives such as Resident Assistant (RA) training, move-in weekend, hall break closings, move-out/commencement, and other essential operational events.
- Assist with residence education projects, such as RA selection, RA appreciation, Student Life Awards, and others as needed.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of Residence Life operations.
Physical Job Components
- Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies and office materials.
- Able to use office and telecommunications equipment.
- Walking required; traveling may be expected at times.
Skills & Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
- Ability and desire to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
