NIHFCU was born in 1940 when $75 was a lot of money. That’s how much our founders – nine federal employees – pooled to give their co-workers and families an alternative to traditional banks. Throughout the decades, we have expanded membership beyond the National Institutes of Health to include other select biomedical/healthcare organizations in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and West Virginia and North Carolina. We are looking for the best and the brightest to participate in our paid internship program. As a part of the program you will learn about our daily routine and procedures for various departments which will help with your personal growth and give you valuable insight and skill set for your future career.

Location: Rockville, MD

Internship Dates: Immediate- 3 months (Please include your availability)

Compensation: 15.75/hour

Work Schedule: 20-25 hours per week (We will work with your school schedule)

Our Accounting team is seeking interns to provide some administrative and basic accounting support to help them. In addition, this position provides administrative assistance, coordination and administrative support to the Accounting Manager for the overall success of the Accounting functions. The Accounting Intern will assist to enhance the Accounting Department in all areas related to: General Accounting duties as assigned and certain Accounting special projects as assigned with the ability to maintain confidentiality of credit union information

All in a day's work:

• Daily Reporting
• General Ledger Entries and Reconciliation
• Researching variances and outstanding items
• W9s & 1099 assistance
• Weekly recons of operating expenses and Accounts Receivable GLs
• Accounts Payable duties
• Organizing, scanning and filing related documentation.
• Assist with development and implementation of physical inventory tracking system for fixed assets. 

What you are all about:

• Majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Public Administration
• Currently enrolled in college. Undergraduate or graduate students welcome to apply, graduate level students preferred.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision
• Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas
