Surgical/Trauma Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Duration: Initially 13-Week Assignment extendable
Shift: Day Shift, 3x12's
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Pay Rate: Blended Pay of $2275 Gross Weekly
This role is ideal for an experienced RN with a background in surgical and trauma care, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and high-acuity environment. You will provide care to critically injured or post-surgical patients during the day shift, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive care to trauma and surgical patients, including preoperative assessments, postoperative recovery, and ongoing care for critically ill or injured individuals.
- Monitor vital signs and other critical parameters in trauma and surgical patients, responding quickly to any changes or complications.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and pain management therapies, adjusting treatment as needed and monitoring for adverse reactions.
- Assist in surgical procedures and recovery, ensuring that all necessary preoperative and postoperative interventions are completed in a timely and safe manner.
- Collaborate with the surgical and trauma teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals, to provide the highest level of care.
- Manage post-trauma and post-surgical care, including wound care, dressing changes, and infection prevention.
- Provide patient education and counseling on recovery processes, managing pain, recognizing signs of complications, and ensuring effective discharge planning.
- Document patient information accurately and timely, ensuring that all assessments, treatments, and interventions are recorded in the electronic medical record.
- Monitor for complications such as infections, hemorrhage, organ dysfunction, or other trauma-related issues, and respond accordingly.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families, helping them navigate the physical and emotional aspects of trauma and surgery.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols and infection control practices to maintain a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff.
- Assist in shift transitions, providing thorough handoffs to the next team to ensure continuity of care.
- Advocate for patients, ensuring that their needs are met, and their care plan is followed throughout their stay.
Qualifications:
- Active RN license in the state of Georgia/Compact
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in surgical or trauma nursing, preferably in an acute care or hospital setting.
- Strong clinical knowledge of trauma and surgical procedures, post-operative care, and pain management techniques.
- Proficiency in critical care and the ability to respond to emergency situations with confidence and speed.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification is preferred, but not required.
- Availability to commit to a full 13-week assignment, with availability to work day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) on a 3x12 schedule (3 shifts per week).
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic trauma/surgical environment.
- 13-week contract duration with potential for extension based on performance and facility needs.
