What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cardiac Sonographer - Casual position at North Ottawa Community Hospital?
General Definition and Scope of Job
Performs full range of specialty testing as ordered by the physician, to include, but not limited to, EKG’s, Event Monitors, Blood Pressure Monitors, Electroencephalographs (EEGs), Holter monitor set-up and scanning and Echocardiograms with Doppler. Performs adjunct duties as required for the efficient, safe operation of the Electrodiagnostics/Cardiopulmonary Department.

What are the Requirements?
- RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) Certification
- High school diploma, GED. Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or tech school preferred.
- Experience in cardio/neuro diagnostic procedures and techniques, on-the-job training or equivalent training.
- Current BLS certification.
- National certification in specialty area (echo) preferred.
- Complete and thorough knowledge of cardio/neuro diagnostic procedures and techniques. Demonstrates safe, competent practices and reasonable common sense and judgment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work unassisted and independently without constant supervision.
