Occupational Health Nurse

Job Grade: $38.76-$51.36*                   

CHMC –Staff Education- Occupational Health Nurse – Full Time- Day Shift- 7a-3:30p various– Requisition 8286

The Occupational Health nurse will practice within the workplace and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the employees and affiliates by providing exceptional care with compassion, sensitivity, privacy and respect. 

Responsibilities include:

•  maintaining staff health records and event reports in accordance with regulatory agencies. 

• Provides health clearances for new employees, affiliates, and staff returning to work in compliance with hospital policy and related regulatory agencies. 

• Provides worksite inspections to maintain health and safety standards to reduce work related injury. Will conduct investigations related to workplace exposures and other hazardous events. 

• Ensures compliance with NYS Department of Health and hospital policies related to infectious exposure, staff illness, quarantine and isolation. 

• Completes healthcare worker vaccinated reports to NYSIIS, HERDS, and NHSN to include COVID-19 and Influenza along with others as required. 

• Implements and supports CHMC Respiratory program to ensure compliance with OSHA. 

• Will provide education and ensure compliance with CHMC Bloodborne Pathogen Program. 

• Remains up to date with health and safety guidelines, designs and encourages health promotional activities. 

• Participates in emergency preparedness drills related to PPE competencies. 

• An active member of Environment of Care and Safe Patient Handling Committees. 

• Works collaboratively with Infection Control and Staff Development.

Qualifications: 

• New York State RN License. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred. 

• Minimum of two (2) years RN Experience.

• Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) within two (2) years of job entry date. 

• BLS Certification required. 

Detail oriented, and have ability to multitask. Ability to analyze and report. Skilled in the use of a variety of PC Software, including all Microsoft products. Good Communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:  Standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds.  Ability to demonstrate CPR compressions on training mannequins.
