What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Admission Testing Nurse ENDO - Full Time position at NORTHEASTERN HEALTH SYSTEM?
Position Summary
Assesses and evaluates patients scheduled for surgical procedures utilizing protocols and communicates with anesthesia and/or surgeon as appropriate. Completes initial patient documentation and provides patient education related to procedure.
Position Accountabilites
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Evaluates patients for scheduled procedures.
Assesses medical condition of patients. Collaborates and consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients’ conditions and health history for patients undergoing surgical procedures and helps facilitate appropriate pre-operative labs/tests utilizing approved protocols.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort, privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
Ensures accurate maintenance of patients’ medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintains good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
Orients, instructs, and trains assigned personnel.
Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.
Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
Assists attending physicians and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed.
Stimulates a positive spirit through personal example and motivation.
Motivates others to improve by taking pride in own actions & goals of Northeastern Health System.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Associate Degree/Diploma or LPN
Minimum Experience - Recent outpatient surgery and/or operating room clinical experience
Required Certification/Registration - Current Okla. LPN/RN license and BLS certification. ACLS and PALS certification within the last 6
months if this nurse is doing clinical patient care at bedside.
Preferred Education - Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Preferred Experience - Two years outpatient surgery and/or operating room clinical experience
Preferred Certification/Registration - Excellent human relations and oral/written communications skills
Management Experience - Supervisory experience preferred
