We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team. The mental health counselor will provide individual, group, and family counseling services to students in grades PK-12, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns. Their work will be grounded in Catholic values and principles, promoting a supportive and healing environment for our students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Individual Counseling:
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with students to address a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship issues.
- Provide support and guidance to students in navigating academic, social, and emotional challenges.
- Utilize evidence-based counseling techniques and interventions.
- Group Counseling:
- Facilitate group counseling sessions for students with common needs or interests.
- Promote healthy coping skills, social problem-solving, and peer support.
- Family Counseling:
- Conduct family counseling sessions to address family dynamics and support students' overall well-being.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to develop strategies for supporting their child's mental health.
- Crisis Intervention:
- Respond to and manage mental health crises, providing immediate support and intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with school administrators and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Prevention and Education:
- Develop and implement prevention programs and workshops on mental health topics, such as stress management, coping skills, and substance abuse prevention.
- Educate students, parents, and staff about mental health issues and resources.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with school counselors, teachers, administrators, and other staff members to support student well-being.
- Refer students to external resources as needed, such as community mental health agencies or therapists.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and ethical guidelines.
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation.
- Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health counseling.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
- Licensed mental health counselor, social worker, or equivalent licensure.
- Experience providing counseling services to children and adolescents.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to Catholic values and principles.
- Experience working in a school setting (preferred).
