Responsibilities
NSA is seeking a high-energy, results-oriented HVAC mechanic to fill our Facility Services Officer (FSO) role.
FSOs are responsible for oversight of the operation, maintenance, repair, modification, design, construction, and inspection of Agency facilities. Specific responsibilities vary based upon areas of expertise.
The selectee may be tasked to manage facilities designs, plans, schedules, and procure materials to organize installation of small construction efforts across the enterprise. This position requires a flexible individual, able to work successfully alone, in a team, or partnering with various Intelligence Community (IC) elements. Therefore, strong problem-solving skills with innovative and creative solutions are highly recommended.
The specific needs for this FSO position are as follows :
- The selectee should be a Journeyman or have a Master HVAC License
- Hands-on working knowledge of mechanical construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- The mechanic should be able to install, operate, and maintain HVAC systems to include, but not limited to, air handlers, ventilation fans, motors, dampers, in row cooling units, and digital and pneumatic controls
- Should be able to adjust or calibrate facilities systems, components, or equipment.
- Should be able to design minor facilities modifications and repairs.
- Requires a good working knowledge of facilities project management including, but not limited to : defining a project, writing a scope of work, planning, scheduling, budgeting, briefing, evaluating performance, design, and construction.
- A working knowledge of facility electrical systems would be a major plus given the selected individual will be responsible for the entire site(s) assigned. Some hands-on working knowledge of electrical construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and experience with the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm, and architectural systems are also a plus.
- Ability to be medically cleared to travel outside of the United States up to 50%.

Qualifications
The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position.
Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 12 years of relevant experience, vocational / technical training in a relevant field plus 11 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 additional years of relevant experience, or a Journeyman license in a relevant field plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master Tradesman license in a relevant field with no additional experience.
If qualifying with a degree, degree must be in Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical, Mechanical or a related field (for example, Construction Management and Space Planning) or a Business related field (for example, Economics, Marketing, Accounting, Business Administration, and Finance).
Relevant experience must include two or more of the following : trades / facilities operations; facilities system integration / interaction; review of facilities information to determine design solutions; construction; hospitality; development of cost estimating and projections, scope of work and project schedule in a related facilities or trade environment. Additionally, must have experience as a supervisor / site manager or specific technical expertise in a facilities specialty (for example, chilled water, electrical power, indoor air, outage coordination). Certification in a relevant field (for example, electrical, mechanical, interior) may count for up to one year of experience.

Pay : Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager / organization regarding the work level for the position.
Salary Range : $120,579 - $185,234
Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position. This position is in Maryland.
On the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.
