Facilities Management and Construction (FMC) serves as the primary facilities manager for the 55 City-owned office and court buildings, while also overseeing necessary renovation and rehabilitation work for that same portfolio.

FMC provides all necessary services to keep the City's buildings fully functional and operational, including maintenance, custodial services, repairs, equipment, and system upgrades, as well as interior and exterior design, façade inspections and repair, elevator operations and upgrades, and construction and renovation.

FMC is looking to hire a Chief of Staff (COS) for FMC that will report directly to the FMC Deputy Commissioner (DC) and serve on the senior leadership team to provide executive and strategic direction for the management of FMC’s 1000 workforce to ensure that all units are working smoothly.

Responsibilities To Include, But Not Limited To

  • Serve as the FMC internal Point of Contact for interagency communication and coordination with the Office of the Commissioner, the Office of the Executive Deputy Commissioner for Asset & Property Management, DEM, Administration, HR, OCP, FBM, EEO, and other Lines of Service, as needed;
  • Ensure all communications are answered in a timely fashion and all deadlines are met for the Deputy Commissioner;
  • Attend meetings with and on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and take appropriate follow up actions;
  • Serve as the FMC Point of Contact for interagency initiatives and city-wide efforts, including communications with the Deputy Mayor and OMB;
  • Serve as the FMC point of contact for Tenant Relations;
  • Ensure units consistently provide superior results and excellent customer service to stakeholders, e.g., tenants in DCAS-managed buildings, including Elected Officials.
  • Work closely with the AC of FM Operations & Strategic Planning to implement strategies to improve FMC functions;
  • Working with the HR Business partners, ensure FMC HR and personnel needs are met;
  • Work on special projects for the Deputy Commissioner;
  • Provide executive leadership that inspires team members to be innovative, creative, accountable, resourceful and customer focused.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience of a nature to qualify for the duties of the position, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have the 18 months of administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

  • Organized and detailed oriented - Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, - Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, - Strong computer technical skills - Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the organization, - Ability to work independently.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.

Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
