Public Health Nurse

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in promoting community health and wellness through education, outreach, and direct patient care. You will work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community organizations to address public health issues, provide support for individuals with health challenges, and implement health programs that improve the overall well-being of the population.

Duties

• Conduct assessments to identify public health needs within the community.
• Develop and implement health education programs tailored to diverse populations.
• Provide addiction counseling and support services to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage behavior change among patients.
• Collect and analyze data related to public health trends and outcomes.
• Collaborate with social workers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care for patients.
• Deliver public speaking engagements to educate the community on various health topics.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with regulations.
• Stay informed about Medicare policies and assist patients in navigating healthcare resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Strong knowledge of public health principles and practices.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and data collection methods.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on public speaking.
• Experience or training in addiction counseling is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development in public health nursing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.50 - $31.00 per hour
