The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for adhering, implementing, monitoring, verifying, validating, and writing procedures and processes that fall under the compliance umbrellas of SQF, HACCP, GMP, Food Safety & Quality in all areas of USDA/FDA labeling, manufacturing, warehousing.

Essential Functions

· Ensures good manufacturing practices, HACCP, SQF and quality standards are met in all areas of manufacturing and warehousing.

· Evaluates raw materials and finished products manufactured and incoming items using various organoleptic, chemical, physical and visual techniques.

· Performs various types of audits as required by the quality assurance procedures.

· Audit employee lockers and knives to ensure compliance with company policy.

· Review labels for accuracy upon arrival at the warehouse.

· Perform incoming sticker audit.

· Review flour tailings.

· Ability to calibrate various pieces of equipment and maintain accurate records.

· Conduct manufacturing and warehouse inspections as required.

· Ability to monitor QA freezer and cooler temps and cleanliness.

· Test returned customer complaint items for QA Manager as needed.

· Assists in all clerical aspects of the quality assurance department, filing/logging of completed test forms, etc.

· Must be knowledgeable in GMP’s, OSHA, SQF and HACCP.

· Observes checks and records all products receiving information, pulls needed samples.

· Prepare, send out micro samples enter into computer and pull results from website.

· Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Competencies

· Education and/or Experience. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Communication/Language Skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is a must. Ability to read and comprehend documents, simple instructions and product labels. Bilingual a plus.

· Technical Competencies. Experience & knowledge in MS Office products (Excel & Word) and SAP preferred.

· Mathematical Skills. Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts along with performing basic math functions.

· Reasoning Abilities. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Strong analytical skills with ability to identify opportunities.
