What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Technician position at On Spot Techs?
You will be driving to and working on-site at residential and small business locations throughout the Dayton and Springfield areas. Our store-front in Moraine will serve as your home base, where you work on computers you take off-site, help with devices dropped off by customers, and refurbishing devices for re-sale.
We are looking for those with some availability 8:30am – 7pm Monday – Friday, and Saturdays 9:30am - 2pm.
Base hourly pay ($18 - 20), which also applies to the travel time to on-site appointments, plus gas compensation for driving 20 minutes between appointments, commissions for selling products, services, and contracts, and quarterly bonuses and rewards.

Paid Training:
- Training is mostly on company procedures, check lists, and processes.
- Some technical and sales processes are taught, but prior tech support and sales experience and knowledge is required!
Job Duties (Technical):
- One-on-one interaction and sales with customers on-site, in-store, remotely, and on the phone.
- Windows and Apple macOS, troubleshooting, repair, and support of the OS and hardware.
- Android and iOS troubleshooting and basic support.
- Router and small network support troubleshooting.
- Smart TV, video streaming, and home entertainment troubleshooting and support.
Job Duties (Non-Technical):
- Answering the store phone for incoming calls and scheduling appointments.
- Creating your job tickets, updating notes, and following up directly with customers as needed.
- Making cold-calls to local businesses and calling past customers to solicit more business.
- Walking into businesses to discuss our services and solicit more business.
- Being responsible in keeping your inventory of parts and accessories.
- Opening and closing the store as needed.
General Requirements:
- Pass a Background Check & Drug Test
- Reliable vehicle for driving to appointments (you will put a lot of miles on your own vehicle)
- 5 years of formal computer & phone repair job experience
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- iPhone or Android phone (non-rooted) for work use
Required Soft Skills:
- Dependable, honest, self-disciplined, organized, and works well under pressure.
- Ability to conversate and be very patient working with our elderly customers. Nearly all of our on-site residential customers are senior-aged.
- Being very detailed and thorough, especially with check lists and documentation.
- Personable, able to put customers at ease, and make them feel comfortable.
- Able to explain technical jargon so customers can understand.
- Sales skills to sell and up-sell products and services to customers, and to meet required sales goals.
