Summary: The Junior People Business Partner supports managers and employees by aligning People strategies with business goals. This role provides day-to-day guidance and support on HR issues, helping to drive performance and engagement.
This role is a hybrid role that will work onsite 2 days per week at our Buffalo Grove, IL location. Occasional travel may be required as part of this position.

Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor for both frontline managers and employees by providing policy and procedure interpretation, while also building trust through active integration into the teams they support—attending team meetings and on-site visits.
- Coaches and develops manager skills around employee relations, performance management, talent development, compensation, employee engagement and other key areas.
- Provide advice and support on a variety of HR issues and in keeping with Onbe's enterprise-wide practice, culture, and core values.
- Address employee inquiries: conduct and lead the investigation of complaints and concerns that could result in legal ramifications; assess the severity; involve appropriate partners; and facilitate appropriate actions.
- Counsel and mentor managers on building an engaged, high-performing team and workplace environment.
- Apply industry best practices and external perspectives to support strategic people management decisions.
- Support organizational change management, facilitating smooth transitions during periods of change.
- Collaborate with People Business Partner team and other People functional experts (talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation, and benefits) to optimize programs for assigned client groups.
- Analyze People insights and data to translate them into effective initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
- Assist in development of updated job descriptions to align with future business needs and local markets.
- Provide support for HR projects and initiatives, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources, or related field
- 3 years in a Human Resources role required; 1-2 years of experience in a Human Resources Generalist role preferred
- SHRM, PHR certification preferred
- Experience working in a hyper-growth organization.
- Previous experience with transactional work in a M&A environment.
- Outstanding relationship-building and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with partners at all levels.
- Demonstrated advising and mentorship skills.
- Demonstrated ability to define problems, establish alternative solutions, and figure out the most efficient course of action.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize, meet timelines, deliver projects to completion, manage results.
- Ability to handle sophisticated situations with good judgement, tact, and discretion.
- Able to understand, navigate, and design in a highly matrixed organizational structure.
