Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to residents in a group home or similar setting. The DSP will assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their rights are respected and promoting their independence while fostering a safe and nurturing environment.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
- Support residents in social and recreational activities, encouraging participation and engagement.
- Monitor and document residents' progress, behaviors, and any changes in health status.
- Advocate for resident rights and ensure a respectful atmosphere within the group home.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to provide holistic care.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for all residents.
Experience
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with resident rights and the ability to advocate on behalf of clients.
- Experience in developing or implementing care plans is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment.
