Financial Assistant – General Ledger

  • Looking for individuals with the ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish!

On-site role Mon-Fri (w / 1 hour lunch)

The Financial Control team (FINCON) is responsible for all accounting and tax activities of several North American business entities within multiple industries including ocean carrier agency, trucking, intermodal / rail, and real estate. We maintain and develop accounting principles, practices, and procedures in alignment with headquarters to ensure accurate and timely financial statements to external stakeholders and internal reporting to corporate management, as well as to stay in compliance with regulations. Main responsibilities include general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and budget and forecast development.

  • Financial Assistant – General Ledger Job Responsibilities :

  • Assist in the review of third-party agents' (TPAs) statements of account : match commissions, match invoices and job orders.
  • Assist and train the TPAs with financial issues (e.g. SOAs, applying cash, collections, bank reconciliations, etc.)
  • Assist the TPAs with customer credit management : applying for credit, monitoring credit limits and credit reporting.
  • Assist the TPAs with resolution of aged AR accounts : bad debt case write-ups, litigation, collection agents.
  • Apply offsets (e.g. debits & credits) and apply / verify ad hoc customer payments.
  • Assist in the management of the general accounts receivable mailbox.
  • Perform backup up duties for the Financial Assistant - Account Payable.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Self-starter must have a positive attitude and strong desire for success
  • Familiarity with accounts receivables and credit
  • Customer focused with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Qualifications :

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both English and Spanish
