Description
As the levels go up (Mgr. II, Manager III, Sr. Manager, the job description and minimum requirements stay the same but the level of related experience and management experience increases. Oversees the people who lead internal information system-specific projects from initiation to delivery. Manages and prioritizes the project stream, working with internal customers to determine project definition and business requirements. Provides budget analysis, resource allocation and coordination of project activities that may be across functional areas within the organization. Assigns and monitors work of technical personnel, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on-time and within budget. Monitors reliability and any internal issues that appear as a result of the project. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varian's business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability, competence and confidence to lead people Effective interpersonal skills Other Desired Skills and Knowledge: Required Certifications and Training: Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Experience Level with Business Tools: Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Scope: Directs subordinates to complete assignments. Job Complexity: Works on issues where analysis of situation or data requires review of relevant factors. Monitors daily operations of a unit. Exercises independent judgment and discretion to resolve complex business problems. Requires full knowledge of functional responsibility. Impact of Decisions and Accuracy: Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. Interaction: Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups.
Supervision: Provides immediate supervision to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work and frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit. Generally supervises semi-skilled employees.
Typical Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent 3 years of related experience Typically no prior management experience. If the candidate has PMP certification a plus.
