Senior Staff Accountant

Job Scope:

• Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for OpenExchange’s accounts payable process, corporate credit cards and expense reimbursements, and will assist with preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations during month-end close.
• This hands-on role works closely with other departments and leaders and requires effective communication, timely responses, and strong time management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the Accounts Payable email inbox, maintain daily communication with vendors and internal expense owners; research, analyze, and resolve payment and vendor issues.
• Enter/manage bills and reimbursement requests daily in the newly implemented spend management system (Airbase); accurately code transactions with GL account and department/region/business line; assign the proper expense manager for bill approvals.
• Review corporate credit card transactions on a weekly basis in the spend management system and follow up for receipts or missing information; accurately code transactions with GL account and department/region/business line.
• Assist with month-end closing including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, prepaids and other related AP items).
• Assist with the review of bills and receipts for sales and use tax.
• Maintain and update vendor profiles with W-9’s and other contract details; preparation of 1099’s.
• Assist with audit and other reporting requests related to accounts payable.
• Assist with other departmental projects and tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• 2-4 years of related responsibility experience; startup/fast-growth and/or multi-subsidiary experience preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite and spend management systems strongly preferred.
• Ability to utilize intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF/SUMIFS.
• Knowledge of sales and use tax is a plus, but not required.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstration of strong organizational processes and attention to detail is critical for this role.
• Motivated and driven self-starter who can roll up their sleeves and escalate accordingly.
