What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at Orange County Government?
The work is primarily responsible for chairside assisting of dentists, students and residents. In addition to chairside assisting, tasks of this position includes taking and processing radiographs, sterilizing instruments and maintain appropriate stock of supplies.
Work is performed under the immediate supervision of the Dental Director and staff dentists with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an ADA-accredited dental assisting program OR one academic year or longer in an accredited dental hygiene program including coursework in coronal polishing, sterilization, infection control and dental office emergencies,
OR possession of the DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification; AND two (2) years of work experience assisting a Dentist with patients in a dental setting;
OR Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency with vocational/technical training in Dental Assisting AND three (3) years of work experience assisting a Dentist with patients in a dental setting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Successful completion of coursework from an ADA-accredited dental assisting or hygiene program in coronal polishing, sterilization, infection control and dental office emergencies.
Successful completion of radiology training consistent with G.S. 90-29(c)(12).
Possession of CPR certification.
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared. Must be able to satisfy ongoing continuing education requirements.
Salary : $42,360 - $49,117
