We’re seeking a Systems Administrator/DBA/Infrastructure Engineer who’s excited to help shape the future of our Linux-centric development and production environments. What You’ll Do:
PostgreSQL Database Administration
- Handle installation, configuration, and upgrades of PostgreSQL environments.
- Perform performance tuning and query optimization to ensure peak efficiency.
- Manage backups using tools like pg_dump and pgbackrest, and ensure data integrity.
- Support replication and scaling through PostgreSQL streaming replication and repmgr.
System & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Support the growth of the company by scoping hardware purchases and installing new data center hardware.
- Oversee operating system installations, upgrades, and security patching.
- Conduct system maintenance tasks, including log file management, monitoring CPU, disk, and memory usage, and setting up alerts.
MySQL/MariaDB Administration
- Provide support for MySQL/MariaDB databases as needed, although this is a secondary focus.
Hypervisor Management
- Manage and optimize virtualization environments using Proxmox, Xen, and VMware.
Continuous Improvement
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes using scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, and TCL.
- Support software testing and release activities to ensure smooth deployments.
Who You Are:
You’re self-driven and thrive in a collaborative environment, ready to take ownership of your work. If you have:
- 5 years of experience maintaining production environments with a strong focus on Linux-based systems.
- Expertise in PostgreSQL database administration and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with MySQL/MariaDB, Linux containers (LXC, LXD, Docker), and storage/SAN technologies (LVM, NFS, iSCSI).
- Strong skills in Linux/UNIX scripting (Bash, Bourne shell), and a solid understanding of networking (IP, subnets, VLANs).
- Experience managing virtualized environments (Proxmox, Xen, VMware) and conducting system maintenance tasks.
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to scope out hardware needs and contribute to the evolution of our infrastructure.

- Experience with C programming on UNIX platforms.
- Familiarity with Makefiles and other build tools.
- Advanced scripting skills in Perl or Python.
- Experience with data center operations and supporting high-availability systems.
