General Description of the job
Co-Facilitate parent groups in Spanish and English. Position requires bilingual and cultural competency in Spanish and English. Facilitators deliver parenting content to caregivers of youth and children ages 4 to 12. Content is delivered over 8 weekly sessions, sessions are typically 90 minutes in length.
Parent Groups are typically held via online conference platforms such as Zoom. A typical group consists of 8-16 parents and caregivers. Sessions occur during evening hours once a week; other times may be necessary to complete make-up sessions with caregivers who miss a session. Required meetings occur during daytime hours.
Facilitator will train to implement a standardized curriculum and to utilize a variety of facilitation strategies during group sessions. Sessions are recorded for coaching and feedback. Facilitator will also attend weekly meetings that include parent group coaching meetings and other team meetings that support the role and general planning meetings that support the project.
Assist with communication in both Spanish and English during the recruitment and scheduling process. The research assistant may contact community agencies to support outreach and recruitment.
May review program materials and documents for accuracy and cultural competency and relevance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Co-Facilitate Parent Groups within the KITS Family of Programs.
- Deliver standardized curriculum to parents in Spanish and English with cultural relevance.
- Train and follow parent group facilitation strategies to deliver content to fidelity.
- Take accurate notes during parent groups to assist in follow up communication and facilitation planning from week to week.
- Assist in communicating with Spanish speaking families as needed during the recruitment process.
- Assist with project related tasks such as data collection that can include providing links to electronic questionnaires and one on one feedback interviews. Data collection may require RA to collect and record responses into a database.
- Help prepare and mail parent handouts to participants.
- Work with team to keep family status and contact information up to date.
- Attend weekly team meetings.
- Maintain positive, good working relationships with participants and community agencies.
