Job Summary:
OMC, a rural hospital dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare services to underserved communities, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) Midwife to join our team. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive midwifery care, including prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, and gynecological care in a rural setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive midwifery care to women throughout their life cycle, including prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and routine gynecological services.
- Attend births and provide labor support, including natural births, and assist with medical interventions when necessary (e.g., epidurals, forceps, or vacuum-assisted delivery).
- Perform gynecological exams, screenings (e.g., Pap smears, breast exams), and preventive care.
- Provide family planning services, including contraception counseling and management, and education on reproductive health.
- Monitor, assess, and manage high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with OB/GYN providers and other medical professionals.
- Conduct health education and counseling to women and families about childbirth, newborn care, and family health.
- Provide postpartum care for new mothers, including breastfeeding support, recovery monitoring, and emotional well-being.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for women and families.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours labor and delivery support, as well as care for obstetric emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in community outreach programs aimed at maternal health education, prenatal care, and reproductive wellness.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant program (PA) with a focus on Midwifery (CNM) or equivalent certification.
- Valid, unrestricted license to practice as an APC in Wisconsin.
- Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) or equivalent advanced certification in Midwifery.
- Current CPR and ACLS certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong clinical skills in managing prenatal, labor, and postpartum care.
- Experience in providing gynecological care, including preventive screenings and family planning services.
- Ability to manage high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with OB/GYN specialists.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a rural healthcare setting with limited resources.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with rural healthcare challenges and resource limitations.
