JOB REQUIREMENT: Graduate of an associate degree program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association for training of physical therapist assistants. Licensed in the state in which they practice as a physical therapist assistant. Have good oral and written communication skills; be of excellent health and possess a high energy level; demonstrate a commitment to excellent “hands-on” patient care; understand the teamwork role and relationship of the physical therapist assistant with the physical therapist.
MANAGEMENT RELATIONSHIP: Be responsible to the supervising physical therapist.
HOURS TO BE WORKED: 40 hours per week unless otherwise determined due to part time employment.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES: To assist the physical therapist in treatment of clients referred for physical therapy services by performing selected treatments, as directed by the physical therapist, training patients and/or family members in appropriate exercises and activities of daily living, preparing the clinical environment for treatment, assisting the physical therapy aide in maintaining adequate supplies used in patient care and maintaining a clean office environment.
SPECIFIC PROCEDURE RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Shall know and be able to perform all duties as note for the physical therapy aide.
- Shall assist the physical therapist by applying the following modalities:
- Cryotherapy
- Electrical Stimulation
- TENS
- Ice/Hot packs
- Hydrotherapy
- Mechanical Traction
- Manual Traction
- Intermittent compression
- Iontophoresis
- Massage/TFM
- Paraffin
- Shall monitor and progress, as directed by the Physical Therapist, therapeutic exercises.
