SALARY RANGE: BASED ON EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FLSA: EXEMPT

SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/11 month position/PSRS
This position is responsible for six credit hours of instruction per fall and spring semester. The Department Chair is allowed to teach two classes for overload per semester. Over two classes for overload is rare and requires approval of Dean and Provost.

Essential Job Duties

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.

Essential Job Duties
- Facilitate continuous improvement of instruction for the department through collaboration, promotion, support of innovative teaching and classroom creativity.
- Promote classes and degrees, facilitate student recruitment, and serve as departmental advocate.
- Establish partnerships with K-12 school districts for student practicum placements and assessment.
- Aligns program outcomes with DESE and transfer university partner standards. Completing all required DESE documentation.
- Recruit, interview, and hire adjunct faculty for relevant department(s) accordingly.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provides accountability among the department full-time and adjunct faculty.
- Lead the department efforts in integrated planning and assessment of student learning.
- Coordinate faculty decision-making regarding curriculum development.
- Facilitate the course materials adoption process with faculty.
- Coordinate department reports and records (e.g., course syllabi, program reviews, student metrics, and inventory).
- Address student concerns regarding advisement, placement, course difficulties, and instructor conflicts (including Title IX issues). Assist with this duty as needed at other campuses and centers.
- Develop the course schedule and assignment of instructors for assigned department(s) with the dean’s approval.
- Provide input in the preparation of program budget and manage department budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Serve as department liaison to college committees and special project teams.
- Conduct at least three departmental meetings per semester to facilitate collaboration and communication among department faculty.
- Assist the Dean with the screening and hiring of full-time faculty.
- Complete tasks within established deadlines and respond to emails within 24 hours during college business days.
- Collaborate with OTC campuses and centers to promote the program, schedule, staff, and evaluate classes and faculty.
- Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
- Comply with college policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees, and attending community events.
- Provide input to Dean in evaluation of courses for transfer and articulation discussions with other institutions.
- Review relevant professional development activities for faculty.
- Master’s degree in a department-related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Five years of teaching experience in K-12 setting.
- Two years of academic leadership experience.
- Demonstrate current knowledge in course content and effectiveness in teaching assigned subjects.
- Experience with an online Learning Management System (such as Canvas/Blackboard).
- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).
- Five years of full-time teaching experience in department-related discipline.
- Experience in a leadership role in a professional organization.
- Evidence of community involvement.
- Experience with Colleague.
