What are the responsibilities and job description for the TECHNICAL ASSISTANT III position at Palm Beach County?
Responsible technical work planning and coordinating an engineering program. Oversees and coordinates the public abandonment, subdivision variance, lot combination, and plat waiver processes. Work involves independent review and specialized technical guidance for processes related to the Abandonment and Subdivision Ordinances, as well as reporting for an assigned program. Reviews projects for compliance with conditions of approval. Reviews plats/site plans/construction plans for compliance with subdivision ordinance, design standards, and possible right-of-way changes. Coordinates work with other agencies, engineers, surveyors, contractors, developers, and property owners. Conducts research for site and construction plans. Work is performed under the direction of a superior and is reviewed in progress and upon completion through reports, conferences and evaluations of program effectiveness.
Qualifications
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification supplemented by a certificate of completion from a vocational training program or two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours) in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Data Processing, Computer Science, Planning, or Transportation/Highway Engineering; minimum of three (3) years of experience in land development. Equivalency: Graduation from high school/equivalent AND five (5) years of related experience.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Palm Beach County (PBC) zoning and property development regulations; reviewing applications for compliance with PBC Subdivision and Abandonment Ordinances (must specify on application); working with the public/providing customer service.
