What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Assistant position at Palm Springs Animal Shelter?
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Development Assistant is responsible for assisting the development and marketing team in raising critical funds to carry out our mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Provide general administrative support for the Development department and Executive Director as needed
- Become familiar with and adequately utilize our donor database DonorPerfect, as well as all fundraising platforms needed for the position
- Answer departmental phones and respond to constituent inquiries in a timely fashion
- Process written and email communications for donors and event attendees
- Ensure tribute and memorial gifts are properly fulfilled including notifications to donors and honorees
- Manage Facebook fundraisers and acknowledge as needed
- Create weekly major donor reports for the Executive Director and facilitate the writing and mailing of thank you cards
- Keep track of Department credit card receipts and reconcile monthly credit card statement with the Finance Department
- Inventory all departmental supplies and order as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized front office workspace
- Responsible for upkeep, troubleshooting and maintenance appointments for shared office printer
- Assist with various shelter and third-party fundraising and community events as needed
- Facilitate various departmental mailings
- Attend weekly department meetings and monthly all-staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and/or evenings if needed

Most duties will be accomplished in the office and utilize a computer and/or telephone. Some responsibilities will require you to assist development staff in the field at events and other sponsorship-like activities: these types of activities will require you to transport yourself, stand for 2 hours, move event supplies in/out and around the event space, etc.
