Job Functions:
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of MRI scanners and related equipment in accordance with Radiologist protocols. Position patients for MRI scans using immobilization and protective equipment, as necessary.
- Explain MRI procedures to patients, providing patient education.
- Applying all safety measures to all visitors, staff, and patients in the MRI zones.
- Select software options and imaging parameters when adjusting the MRI machine.
- Screen patients for MRI safety prior to procedure performance, consulting with Radiologist as needed.
- Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
- Evaluate scans for technical quality, collate processed images, window/level adjustment as indicated, and appropriately labeled. Film/transmit to PACS.
- Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions, including billing of completed exams.
- Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
- Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for MRI scans.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
- Other duties deemed necessary by management as assigned.
Educational/ Experience Requirements:
Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology, ARRT certification in Radiography
Completion of an accredited MR program within 6 month of employment or obtaining certification in MRI within 6 months
MRI & CT experience preferred
Other Requirements:
BLS certification
Non-exempt position responsible for operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners. Using MRI scanners, MRI Technologists create 3D images of a patient’s body tissues, which physicians use as an aid to diagnosis.
