Job Summary: The Point of Care Coordinator (POCC) is responsible for the coordination of point of care testing. This support crosses multiple hospital and clinic locations. The POCC provides technical resources and daily direction to nurses, medical assistants, and other clinical personnel regarding POC policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The POCC assures quality testing and accurate test performance through operator training, competency assessment, equipment monitoring, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, quality control review, and proficiency testing. The POCC establishes policies, procedures, standards, departmental objectives, manages all functions of POC testing, compliance with standards and regulations, and maintenance of equipment. Secondary duties will be performing medical laboratory tests, procedures and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by performing the following duties. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.
Qualifications/Reporting:
Required minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or completion of technical training equivalent to a four-year program with associated licensure.
Required minimum experience: Two years of POCT experience with medical laboratory experience preferred.
Required skills (if applicable): Knowledge of POCT regulations, procedures, requirements and equipment with knowledge of medical laboratory analyzers preferred. Ability to interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and regulatory requirements.
Required license/certification: MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
