With offices in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties, we are committed to assisting individuals in achieving their goals and needs. Our professional staff are dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities in achieving increased employment prospects, border community access, and long-term improvements in independent living skills.
We are actively looking for a candidate who has worked with individuals who may be experiencing socio-emotional difficulties due to intellectual disability. The candidate for this position enjoys a challenge and has prior experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and may exhibit behavior excesses and limitations.
The Simi Valley office has an amazing, highly skilled professional workforce who make work enjoyable. Although this is not a supervisory position, the successful candidate will work directly with program participants and have the possibility to advance to a leadership role if their behavioral and communication skills are extraordinary.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma
- Experience is highly desirable – plus 1 year
Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual is preferred (Spanish)
- Must be willing to drive approximately no more than 15 miles to the client's home
- Ability to maintain professionalism during an assaultive or acting out individual
- Outgoing personality
Essential Functions:
- Promote growth, socialization, and independence of the individual
- Able to do repetitive motions
- Daily documentation of individual behavior
- Skill-building to ensure the individual is engaged in daily activities
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training
- Go above and beyond with the individual and staff
- Work with more than one individual
Required:
- Reliable transportation (Employer vehicle provided as well)
- Valid Driver’s License and Auto Insurance
- Must pass background check
- TB Clearance/Drug Test
