What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Assistant - Part Time position at Pamlico Community College?
The Library Assistant provides administrative and clerical support as well as reference assistance and circulation services to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons. The Library Assistant is a test proctor and administers placement and the CRC (Career Readiness Certificate) test. The Library Assistant will inventory audio-visual equipment on campus as needed. Occasional altering of daily schedule will be necessary.
A minimum of a High School diploma is required. An associate degree is preferred. Above-average computer skills are needed. Multi-tasker and the ability to work independently. Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Must be flexible and possess above-average organizational skills.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Assist in the operation and inventory of the online library collection.
- Keep accurate records and inventories of all correspondence, orders, reports, equipment, and materials.
- Assist with ordering office supplies, books, periodicals, audiovisual equipment, and materials.
- Assist with activities of the circulation desk such as registering borrowers, interpreting college policies, collecting and recording overdue library fines, and checking in and out books and equipment.
- Responsible for the creation of photo ID’s and library cards.
- Manage inventory of library audio-visual equipment when needed.
- Provide excellent customer service to staff, faculty, students, and public patrons.
- Administer CRC tests and College Placement Tests.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
