What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet Metal Floor Manager position at Paradigm Manufacturing, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY
As the Sheet Metal Fabrication Manager, you will oversee the full cycle production workflow for this department to include laser, turret punch, brakes, hardware, deburr/grind and welding. The ideal candidate will identify and solve any current or potential problems within the department and work under the Director to coordinate activities of the sheet metal floor to ensure all quality requirements, deadlines and commits are met to our customer.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Will monitor and communicate production deadlines, changes in scheduling, Rush or HOT jobs to the floor on a daily basis.
- Run daily reports to identify and create the schedule of work for the floor in all areas, and for all shifts.
- Work with all other departments to update, advise and receive commit dates, changes in commit dates and any other changes as it relates to the production schedule.
- Work with Sheet Metal Leads to ensure that all team members understand the schedule for the day, and ensure that any issues on the floor are addressed quickly and effectively to meet commits.
- Directly responsible for meeting the quality and delivery metrics identified for the area.
- Work with programmers on any changes, drawing issues or discrepancies as they relate to customer drawings.
- Responsible for training all the employees in the department on the processes and work instructions pertaining to the process area, HR Training, safety training and quality training.
- Works on cycle time reduction of the sheet metal operations and see that the productivity is improved through continuous improvement projects.
- Implements 5S and the latest lean manufacturing techniques in the department.
- Identifies any hiring requirements in his group and send requisitions to the Director of Manufacturing for approval.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Five years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires an advanced level of management experience and experience in sheet metal fabricating production process.
- Semiconductor experience is strongly preferred. Experience in low volume, high mix manufacturing is required.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite.
- Experience with MRP software
CRITICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Prior management experience in the sheet metal manufacturing field.
- Ability to operate common office equipment as well as manufacturing equipment utilized in the sheet metal manufacturing process.
- Basic mathematic skills normally acquired through high school education are required. Ability to multi task, work under frequent, tight production deadlines.
- Requires physical ability to perform activities common to the trade including lifting up to 30 lbs. holding and measuring parts and materials.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:
Directly responsible for managing a department of 40-60 employees under the direction of the Director of Fabrication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
