Partners in Prevention is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency headquartered in Secaucus, NJ. Our mission is to improve wellness and prevent substance use disorders and related health challenges in Hudson County and New Jersey. We strive to be a recognized health and wellness leader, creating a safe and thriving environment for individuals, families, and communities.
As our new Bilingual Prevention Educator, you will serve as a vital resource for our Hudson County Community. Using your strong interpersonal skills and desire to inform and support others, you will deliver evidence-based programs and information to students, families, and seniors throughout the county. A strong background in prevention, public health, public speaking, or education will set you up for success in this role. While you will get to work closely with a phenomenal team, you should also be prepared to take initiative and work solo on a variety of projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who is ready to combine their passions for public health and community engagement, and we hope that’s you! The position involves a minimum of one in-office day every week and attendance of all educational workshops in the schools on a daily basis. There will be remote work as well.
In this role, you get to:
- Learn and implement curricula for students ages 10-18, as well as young adults ages 18-24, and seniors aged 55
- Support our Strengthening Families program by serving as a facilitating staff member
- Develop and lead workshops for community members on a variety of prevention and health topics
- Work to translate and adapt programs for Spanish-speaking classes, parent groups, and community partners
- Hone your graphic design and presentation skills by preparing new and engaging ways to deliver content
- Work with a passionate team of educators and preventionists to make positive changes in Hudson County.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with teachers, school administrators, funders, and other key stakeholders
- Have fun! There are tons of games and icebreakers we incorporate into our programming, and you'll get to learn them all.
This job will be a great fit if:
- You have a Bachelor’s Degree in education, human/social services, public health or a related field. Bonus points for a teaching certification or a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) certificate.
- You are fluent in Spanish, both spoken and written, and are comfortable writing, translating, and editing educational materials in both English and Spanish
- You have experience working with young people in an educational setting
- You enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds
- You have a background in public health, education, and/or prevention work
- You have strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage diverse student groups
- You're tech-savvy! You have strong computer skills, with working knowledge of GSuite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Bonus points for other graphic design and presentation skills.
- You are comfortable presenting virtually and in person utilizing Zoom and Google Meet, bonus points for experience working with Google Classroom and other online/virtual teaching resources.
- You are comfortable leading and engaging youth remotely using Google Classroom, Zoom, and other remote education platforms
- You take pride in your work and take ownership of projects or assignments; you always try your best and can work well in both a small team or solo.

Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week
Some evenings and weekends required and must have some flexibility in the schedule to attend events as needed.
