What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Worker position at Passaic County Community College?
We are seeking a full-time Family Worker for our Child Development Center who will report to the Executive Director of the Child Development Center. This person will be responsible for the implementation of the family outreach program and serving as a liaison for the parents at the Child Development Center. The Family Worker is a 12 month/40 hour per week position. Daily hours are flexible and based on the needs of the families served.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position.
Example of Duties:
- Responsible for intake and registration of children.
- Documentation of all parent and child contacts.
- Maintenance and updating of all children's files.
- Monitor, track and maintain attendance; complete monthly attendance reports and wrap around vouchers.
- Provide resources to families.
- Develop, facilitate and oversee parent involvement activities, monthly workshops and on-going groups.
- Conduct home visits per the Paterson School District.
- Assist in transitioning children from pre-school to Kindergarten by providing parents with Kindergarten registration information and providing elementary schools with transition folders.
- Serve as a liaison/contact person for parents with questions or concerns and address issues as necessary.
- Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled by the Board of Education.
- Communicate and work with teaching staff to give families all resources and services needed.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in related field is preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years' experience working with children and families.
