Theyre seeking a hands-on Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day job site operations, manage subcontractors, ensure project timelines and quality standards are met, and maintain smooth coordination between on-site activities and the office team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in the field, excels at managing people and timelines, and has a strong understanding of high-end residential renovations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations at multiple active job sites (typically 3 at a time).
- Supervise subcontractors, manage project schedules, and coordinate inspections.
- Conduct quality control checks and maintain site safety and cleanliness.
- Ensure projects stay within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Manage and resolve site issues proactively, minimizing delays.
- Step in for light hands-on carpentry work when needed (~20% of the time).
- Maintain compliance with San Diego building codes, permits, and inspection requirements.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Coordinate with the internal team to ensure seamless communication and project flow.
- Oversee smaller, specialized projects (e.g., aging-in-place modifications, additions).
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Field Supervisor, or Lead Carpenter.
- Strong background in high-end residential renovations.
- Expertise in project scheduling, quality control, and job site safety.
- Familiarity with San Diego permitting processes and local building codes.
- Hands-on construction experience in framing, drywall, demo, and finish carpentry.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and subcontractors simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel between San Diego job sites as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Existing network of trusted subcontractors in the San Diego area.
- Experience in ground-up construction (for additions and larger remodels).
- Background in cost estimation and managing project budgets.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
