Position Title: Staff Certified Medication Aide (CMA)
Summary: Copper Ridge is seeking Certified Medication Aide's to provide our residents with Medication Administraton and daily care under the supervision of the charge nurse and senior nursing staff. Our ideal candidate has completed CMA training, obtained appropriate licensure, and combined tact and good communication skills with a commitment to providing quality resident care.

Duties:
Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility and that may be ordered for resident use.
Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed and dated order from an attending licensed physician.
Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication/treatment.
Verify that prescribed medication for one resident is not administered to another.
Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied, as directed.
Document any instance where prescribed medication is not administered, including reason(s) for refusal.
Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse, as directed.
Verify that adequate supply of floor stock medications, supplies, and equipment is on hand to meet the nursing needs of the residents. Report needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
Order prescribed medications, supplies, and equipment as necessary, and in accordance with established procedures.
Verify that narcotic records are accurate for your shift.
Follow facility policies and procedures regarding the destruction of medications.
Notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift.
Review medication cards for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician's order and adherence to stop order policies.
Notify the Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor of automatic stop orders prior to the last dosage being administered.
Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any medication administration errors.
Assisting with resident food service during and between meals and feeding and positioning patients as needed
Providing basic nursing care as required, from checking vital signs to administering dressings, treatments, and taking tests.
Maintaining and adding to records of resident health and care and documenting actions via form, reports, records, and logs
Report observations to nursing supervisor and assist nursing staff with any other duties related to resident care as needed.
Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the customer experience, enhance workflow, and/or improve the work environment.
Keep resident patient information confidential, follow all policies and procedures, and adhere to federal, state, local requirements, and professional standards.
Maintaining licensure and taking ownership of professional development through educational opportunities.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Completion of state-approved CNA/GNA training
Completed CMA training
Successful competition of the Maryland Competency Examination for the Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Certified Medication Aide licensure in Maryland
Strong communicator
Preferred Skills: Experience working with elderly residents, not required, but preferred.
