Job Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of duties in the trailer, tractor, and all motorized vehicles areas of the shop including completing Planned Maintenance (PMs), and annual inspections. Typical work involves electrical and lighting repairs, brake work, satellite communication/tracking system repairs, external engine components, AC blower motors, repairs to trailer doors and seals, some bodywork, and chassis/suspension work.
- Use computers to seek service and parts information and download information from onboard computers in heavy machinery.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment, such as skid steer loaders, backhoes, forklifts, and on-highway trucks.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines used in power generation, marine propulsion, and agricultural machinery;
- Detect mechanical and electrical faults by using gauges, instruments, and laptop computers that check machine electrical and electronic circuitry, fuel injection systems, hydraulic systems, engine speed control, engine condition, and performance;
- Dismantle and rebuild machine components to manufacturers' specifications;
- Use welding equipment, hand or machine tools to manufacture or repair parts.
- Must furnish own hand tools with drives up to ½” in size.
Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
