At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Research Dietitian in the Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory.
The Research Dietitian will work closely with a team of researchers and dietitians and will participate in all aspects of clinical research conducted by Pennington Biomedical, including the coordination, planning, and implementation of administrative, clinical, and/or intervention activities primarily occurring in medical clinics and community settings.
Major Responsibilities
Participate in the assessment of dietary and health behaviors.
Participate in the development and delivery of health promotion interventions.
Assist with study start-up processes.
Create study-specific source documents to include checklists, phone scripts, screening questions, study forms, etc.
Assist with designing and overseeing project/study process flows, recruitment efforts, standard operating procedures, and protocol implementation.
Complete participant consenting processes.
Complete participant visits and obtain protocol specific measures.
Oversee and/or complete entry of clinical trial data.
Provide specified and/or specialized clinical, exercise, or interventional procedures and services.
Coordinate general planning and operations: create, prepare, and oversee regulatory submissions; monitor budgets; assist with establishing priorities, timelines, and processes for the trial.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition or related field.
Louisiana Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) Certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Excellent organizational skills; excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task.
Ability to effectively work with clients in a non-judgmental approach and to build rapport and trust.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
- As part of a career progression group, vacancy may be filled from this recruitment as a Research Dietitian 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Research Dietitian 1: Up to three (3) years of related experience.
Research Dietitian 2: More than three (3) years of related experience.
