As Successful Kennel Attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of all boarding, daycare, and hospitalized animals. A top-notch Kennel Attendant will be able to tailor their care according to animals' physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, as well as any medical needs that may arise. This position requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and passion for animals of all breeds and sizes. The kennel attendant position is a support position for ALL of the animals in our care, as well as our other departments, requiring flexibility and diligence. Becoming a kennel attendant is a great first step into a career in animal healthcare. The position offers the potential to experience multiple areas of animal care, and is a fantastic stepping stone to other positions.
Kennel Attendant Responsibilities:
Transporting animals to and from the kennels.
Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels quickly and thoroughly
Disinfecting and detail cleaning boarding/daycare facilities
Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
Laundering bedding, towels, and belongings
Administering medication to animals under the auspices of the Veterinarian.
Working closely with Doctor and technician team to monitor animal well being
Reporting significant changes in functioning to the Veterinarian or medical professional on duty.
Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.
Ensuring safe, enjoyable, and engaging play during doggy daycare sessions
Addressing fearful, aggressive, or nervous animal behavior in accordance with hospital policy
Working closely with Kennel team and Boarding Lead to ensure departmental goals are met
Providing handling assistance to Technician team when necessary
Attending to the cleanliness and maintenance of various parts of the facility
Ensuring the security and safety of animal housing, and boarding animal belongings
Cross training in one or more departments in order to support hospital needs
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 24 per week
