We are actively seeking a dedicated Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our high-volume spay and neuter clinic, where you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the health of our animal companions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operative physical examinations and administer vaccinations to patients.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records.
- Perform diagnostic tests, assess results, and communicate findings to the attending veterinarian.
- Collaborate with veterinarians to prepare animals for surgery and administer medications, including anesthetic agents.
- Monitor patients’ progress from the preparation phase through recovery, evaluating their readiness for discharge.
- Ensure compliance with laws pertaining to licensed veterinary technicians, including those established by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
- Manage controlled-drug and supply inventories, executing proper recordkeeping and reporting.
- Facilitate communication with pet owners regarding post-operative care and diagnostic results.
- Uphold maintenance protocols for all medical equipment and ensure sufficient clinic supplies are available.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client, patient, and donor information.
- Valid Virginia veterinary technician’s license.
- Experience managing controlled substances inventory.
- Strong capability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. consistently.
- Proven experience in a veterinary clinic setting is preferred.
- Completion of an accredited veterinary technician program is required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information effectively.
