Job Overview:

Peterson Construction Company, a leading construction firm specializing in Water/Wastewater Treatment Facilities, Correctional Facilities, and Schools, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Equipment Fleet Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our construction equipment fleet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large fleets of construction equipment, ensuring all machinery is properly maintained, available when needed, and operates efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity on job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fleet Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of the company’s construction equipment fleet, including heavy machinery, vehicles, tools, and smaller equipment, ensuring proper inventory, availability, and utilization.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure all equipment is well-maintained and operating at peak performance. Coordinate repairs, service schedules, and inspections to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Prepare and manage the equipment fleet budget, monitor costs related to fuel, maintenance, repairs, and leasing. Optimize fleet utilization to achieve cost-effective operations.
  • Acquisition & Disposal: Manage the purchase, lease, and disposal of equipment, ensuring the fleet remains up-to-date with the latest models and meets project requirements. Negotiate with vendors and manage contracts for purchasing or leasing equipment.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, as well as internal safety protocols. Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, and certifications.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of equipment operators, mechanics, and support staff. Provide training and guidance on best practices for operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Fleet Tracking & Reporting: Implement systems for tracking equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and performance. Generate regular reports on fleet performance, downtime, and cost analysis to senior management.
  • Inventory Management: Ensure that equipment parts and tools are properly stocked and readily available for quick repairs and maintenance.
  • Logistics Coordination: Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery and mobilization of equipment to job sites. Manage fleet logistics to optimize project timelines and equipment availability.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in equipment fleet management
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction equipment, including heavy machinery, trucks, and tools. Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as ASE, CET (Certified Equipment Technician), or equivalent are a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to inspect and assess equipment, sometimes in challenging or outdoor environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fleet management software (e.g., RTA, Fleet Complete, or similar).
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost-control practices in fleet management.
  • OSHA certification or safety training.

Wages:

  • Commensurate of experience level

Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
