Responsibilities Of The Safety Engineer At Petticoat-Schmitt
In this role, you’ll be responsible for overall safety, making sure all safety and safety systems are in place and being followed.
- Each Team Member Knows Their Role & Responsibility: You’ll make sure that everyone clearly understands the part they play in contributing to our high safety standards. Team members are fully engaged in safety throughout all phases of a project.
- Verifying Process Adherence: You’ll spend much of your time out in the field on job sites. When checking on the work, you’ll have conversations with the crew to ascertain whether the correct steps and procedures are being followed.
- Wrapping Arms around the Data: By capturing and monitoring data throughout the process, you identify and track trends, failures, and deficiencies.
- Coaching Up Safety: By building good relationships with our crews and team members, you’ll work closely with them to identify gaps in training or understanding. You’ll problem-solve with them to help them improve. You’ll make sure foremen and superintendents are practicing safe methods correctly and provide additional guidance to them when needed.
- Continuous Improvement: When you see something missing that’s needed in the process, you’ll identify what is needed to help us raise the bar even higher. You’re responsible for not just the process as it exists today, but what it could and should be for the future.
- Support leadership in the planning, implementation, and coordination of safety programs, policies, and procedures for all active construction sites
- Attend pre-construction meetings as required to determine the owner’s expectations for safety management.
- Survey construction projects and environments to identify and evaluate physical conditions, safety practices, hazardous situations/conditions, and compliance with established safety standards.
- Assist project management and build teams in developing and implementing site-specific safety plans
- Develop safety plans, hold pre-activity meetings, and conduct audits.
- Continuously monitor and ensure conformity to all OSHA, Federal, and State safety requirements.
- Investigate and follow-up on incidents, conduct root cause investigations, and provide recommendations for corrective and preventive action.
- Assist with maintaining certification and training records for all construction crew members.
- Coordinate with VP of Safety, Project Managers, and other build team members as necessary to improve the effectiveness of safety policies and procedures.
