PCVA Law, a premier personal injury law firm with a 16-year track record of success, is seeking a Legal Clerk to join our Tacoma office. Primary duties will include making binders, pulling and organizing medical records, and other administrative tasks to help our office run smoothly. We work on a diverse range of cases, so every day brings a new challenge and something new to learn. Almost all work for this position is done on a computer, so strong computer processing skills are required. We are a very busy firm and move at a fast pace, so we require someone with excellent organization and task management skills. Job Duties:
- Trial support (creating trial binders, refreshing trial box supplies)
- Sending out releases for records, discovery requests and other correspondence to clients
- Tracking releases received from clients
- Special projects assigned by attorneys like records review, deposition summaries, etc.
- Requesting medical records
- Public records requests
- Drafting pleadings and letters to support our legal assistants
- Sending records to colleagues or experts, and writing accompanying correspondence
- Miscellaneous office support tasks
The selected candidate must possess the following:
- Good computer skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Typing speed of at least 45 WPM
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Friendly demeanor and ability to interact well with guests and coworkers
- Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office
- Intermediate ability with PDF software like Acrobat and/or Foxit
- Intermediate ability with Microsoft Windows
The ideal candidate may possess the following:
- Bachelors or Associates degree
- Typing speed of 60 WPM
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, PDF Software, Windows
- Experience working in a law firm or office environment
PCVA uses SmartAdvocate and NetDocuments. Experience with these are a plus, but not necessary.
While not everyone will have experience with all systems, we look for someone with a willingness to learn and the ability to problem-solve. Training will be provided on all our systems.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This position is in-person, five days a week.
Excellent compensation package:
- Compensation is $29 per hour.
