WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Principal in Residence (PiR) program prepares new and experienced school leaders to launch and lead Phalen Leadership Academies (PLA) nationwide. The program is designed to provide a pipeline of highly qualified candidates who are knowledgeable, trained, equipped and ready to implement the PLA model and lead PLA’s schools to success. 

The PiR resident will serve on an existing PLA's school leadership team. PiRs will spend 6 - 18 months in residency with a high-performing mentor principal learning how to launch and lead a new or existing PLA school. During the residency, in addition to serving as a school leadership team member, PiRs will spend time engaging in seminars, workshops, practicums, task completion, coaching, and mentorship, so they can be assured of hitting goals as a school leader when they take on their own PLA school. As an active member of the school leadership team, the PiR resident engages in daily activities and tasks to achieve the three main goals of the PLA school leader. These include 1. retaining over 95% of enrolled scholars, 2. retaining 90% of highly effective and effective teachers and leaders, and 3. ensuring that school academics increase by 10% proficiency.

DO YOU HAVE: 

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Possess a teachable attitude and responsive to giving and receiving feedback
• Valid Administrator’s License 
• Proven success as an instructional leader with past experience in a school leadership role or classroom teacher
• The have an ability to data investigate and develop a plan for campus success
• The ability to collaborate and communicate with staff and stakeholder the vision and direction of your campus
