Position Overview

The PRN APP is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) who functions as a medical provider in collaboration with an MD/DO according to state regulations to support our telehealth program through quarterly or bi-annual in-person visits to a caseload of patients. The PRN APP will provide primary care services within their scope of practice. The PRN APP will participate as a member of the Physician Housecalls/ Mobile Medical team who works in close collaboration with the telehealth PCP by exemplifying the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Company and work collaboratively to achieve them. They must be cognizant of, and comply with, all Physician Housecalls policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.


Job Responsibilities

  • Adhere to state regulations governing appropriate collaboration with MD/DO including but not limited to escalation of patient concerns, need for additional referrals or services and prescribing of schedule II medications.
  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations
  • Diagnose and counsel patients on a plan of care to support the telehealth PCP of the patient who sees the patients remotely during other months of the year
  • Support the telehealth provider to prescribe medication in accordance with state statutes and professional practice guidelines and within their scope of practice and in compliance with state regulations for MD/DO collaboration.
  • Recommend needed referrals to telehealth provider & nursing team for patients requiring services not available through Physician Housecalls/Mobile Medical
  • Perform minor procedures within scope of practice and in compliance with state regulations for MD/DO collaboration.
  • Comply with accepted Infection Control standards which includes personally utilizing universal precautions
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position
  • Adhere to Physician Housecalls productivity standards and meet at least the minimum requirement.
  • Timely completion of documentation.
  • Assists in coordinating total patient care
  • Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients, practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to Company policies and HIPAA requirements
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • Communicating with internal team members & with outside agencies with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Work with interdisciplinary team to provide a better process in patient care

Requirements

Education/Licensing Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary program
  • A current license for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Oklahoma and/or Kansas
  • Board Certification
  • Current D.E.A. Certificate
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP is preferred
  • Insurability (malpractice)
  • Personal car for travel and a valid driver license
  • Valid personal auto liability insurance coverage
  • Access to reliable internet and basic knowledge of computer skills

Physical Requirement:

  • The ability to repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting to 50lbs
  • The ability to work in stressful conditions and working irregular hours
  • The ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids including COVID.
  • Travel is required in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to have a certain comfort level for any setting or area. (e.g., patients’ home)
  • Reliable transportation along with equipment on hand for patients.
