Swim Instructor (All Branches)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Swim Instructor will conduct swimming instruction in accordance with the core values and the standards set by the National Aquatic YMCA programs while ensuring the safety of the patrons and students at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Fulfill Y's mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

2. Promote and incorporate the YMCA core values and mission into all aspects of the job and in the community.

3. Instruct swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines using lesson plans.

4. Build effective, authentic relationships with students and parents.

5. Attend staff meetings and trainings.

6. Participate as an active team member for the overall advancement of the association.

7. Encourage the involvement of all participants.

8. Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be at least 16 years of age.

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3. Excellent human relations skills.

4. Current certification from the YMCA or other accredited association preferred (i.e. LGI, and YMCA PYAL, etc.)

5. Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance to YMCA standards.

6. Visual abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust
and focus.

PRACTICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize equipment
• Complete forms
• Daily housekeeping
• Assist with lesson plans
• Maintain records
